AI credits & tokens

AI features in EmailFlow AI are powered by your own OpenRouter API key. There are no platform-imposed token limits — connect your key, and usage is unlimited on the platform side. You pay your AI provider directly at their rates.

What tokens power

Any time the AI does work for you, it uses tokens from your OpenRouter account. That includes:

Connecting your AI key

Go to API Keys › AI Provider and enter your OpenRouter API key. The platform validates the key on save. Once connected, all AI features are unlocked immediately. You can update or rotate your key at any time.

AI tokens are separate from sending. Building emails and generating content does not use your sending provider's quota, and vice versa.

Model selection

The Design Studio and automation chats include a model picker. Choose from Claude, Gemini, and other models available through OpenRouter. The cost per request depends on the model and the length of the work — check your OpenRouter dashboard for usage details.

Making tokens go further

  • Start from a template. Remixing an existing design uses fewer generations than building from a blank prompt.
  • Be specific. A clear prompt gets you closer on the first try, so you spend less refining.
  • Set your brand once. On-brand output from the start means fewer corrective edits.

Frequently asked questions

Does the platform charge for AI usage? No. EmailFlow AI imposes no per-token platform fees. You pay your OpenRouter provider directly.

Are AI tokens the same as a sending limit? No — they are completely separate. Your sending volume depends on your sending provider; AI tokens are consumed from your OpenRouter account.

What happens if my OpenRouter balance runs out? AI features will return an error until you top up your OpenRouter balance. Your campaigns, contacts, and other non-AI features continue working normally.
